NATIONAL MUSIC COALITION
In the late 1990s, with the support of the Helen F. Whitaker
Fund, eight of the nation's leading non-profit music service
organizations joined in a strategic alliance and formed
the National Music Coalition to promote the vision of an
American musical culture that stretches the imagination,
uplifts community life, and touches individuals of diverse
backgrounds and ages. The Coalition provides the national
leadership and infrastructure needed for such a vibrant
musical culture by enabling its members and constituents
to do what they do best -- create, perform, produce, and
present inspiring music. By bringing together music professionals,
leveraging funds, seeding the field with new music, training
professionals, and providing advocacy and communications,
the Coalition motivates and supports constituencies to take
advantage of new opportunities and challenges that promote
the vitality and appreciation of music in America.
The current partners in the National Music Partnership/Coalition
represent the fields of classical, jazz, opera, and other
forms of art and concert music and include the American
Composers Forum, American
Music Center, American
Symphony Orchestra League, Association
of Performing Arts Presenters, Chamber
Music America, Chorus
America, Meet
the Composer, and Opera
America.
